What is a Superkart?

The word Superkart has traditionally been used to mean 125cc and 250cc engine karts, the fastest categories in karting, racing on full size car circuits such as Silverstone and Donington. Due to their excellent power to weight ratio and superb cornering ability, Superkarts often set faster lap times than much more expensive larger racing machines.

The most obvious difference between a Superkart and any other form of kart is that they have a full aerodynamic bodykit. The power unit is a specially designed kart engine with a clutch and 6-speed sequential gearbox. Slick tyres are used in dry conditions and cut tyres in the wet along with multiple chassis settings to fine tune handling and performance. On board electronics provide the driver with feedback both on and off the track.

The 125cc Superkart can accelerate to 60mph in under 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 130mph.
